Luke Gribley

Luke (he/him, Permaculture Course Manager) was raised in the Ohio River Valley – half in West Virginia and half in Southern Indiana. During his thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail in 2012, he was immersed in and infatuated with the staggering beauty, complexity, balance, and resiliency of the ecology of Appalachia. He was awakened to the real impact that humans have on the ecosystem – good and bad, big and small, and spent a lot of time thinking about what he would do if he ever had the opportunity to exert creative agency on some piece of land one day. He quickly moved to Appalachia after the hike was completed and continued his connection to and education from the mountains, landing in West Asheville in 2013. Luke discovered permaculture at the crossroads of regenerative agriculture, ecology, and a deep spiritual and ethical responsibility to the care of our common home. What began as a personal journey into homesteading and land stewardship soon grew into a calling to help others do the same. His own experience as a student of the Wild Abundance PDC (class of 2019) supercharged not only his knowledge, but his zeal for sharing it far and wide. He founded Gribley Permaculture to bring ecological design to everyday homesites—offering an alternative to conventional landscaping that’s rooted in care, creativity, and connection.
